The Bug Off is my natural insect repelent. There are no chemicals, just essential oils that insects typically don't like and distilled water with a little alcohol to preserve it. I use Cedarwood, Citronella, Lemongrass, and Peppermint essentail oils and it comes in a small sized (4 oz) amber plastic bottle with a black spray top or a large 8oz bottle. The alcohol I am using is actually a Yarrow tincture which is adding the energetic properties of this protective plant- Yarrow is good at strong boundaries ("stay away bugs!")
I find it is useful for mosquitos and "no-see-ems" the little black flies that pack a punch in their bites, and use it also when in the woods to try to deter the ticks along with my garlic breath, high socks, and prayers. It's great to spray on your clothes, shoes, hat and safe to spray on exposed skin. Frequent application seems to help because the essential oils dissipate and then you will need to re-apply. I tend to keep one with me when hiking or hanging out in the woods so I can spray every 45 minutes or whenever the essential oils dissipate.
